There's a post on the Petrucci Forum about how fast Marcus *isn't*. Apparently when he was at GIT, he was surgically attached to his ADA preamp and refused to plug in without it. One instructor forced him to play w/o the preamp. Not so fast anymore, is he? :-)

I've seen/heard the fastest player on the planet, and his name is Rusty Cooley. If you have any doubts, see him live (Atlanta area) or check him out at Jemfest 2003 in Orlando, FL. Videos are up on Rusty's site and Jemfest.com. The 2002 Jemfest DVD will feature some INSANE Rusty speed as well.

Yes- faster than Shawn (respectfully said), faster than Yngwie, Impelliterri, German Schauss, Paus...all of them. I've heard/seen almost all of them...and Rusty is tops.
And, a super-cool guy to boot.

As it's been said before, speed is only one tool in the huge toolbox known as Guitarist.
