)-Blue takes quickly to flight, 'rider just along for the ride as wings carry duo to ledge. Meanwhile bantam Brown continues to struggle to hover, gaining an inch or two but crashing back to earth with a thud. Wings flap vainly, several feet risen, the highest yet for the pair, a jarring landing as balance is once again lost. Cry of pain is suppressed by Brown as wing is fouled on talon. Virile leaps down, quickly untangling the appendages with concern.
Are you okay Reith?
[Yes, rider-mine, though I wish I could do the same as the others. I have no balance]
Thoughts end wistfully as sudden idea strikes diminutive virile, sprinting quickly back inside the Weyr. Several minutes later male returns, several bags of heavy sand swung over his shoulders.
[T'gre what are you doing?]
Reith, I think the reason that you have trouble in flight is your lack of balance. You are heavier in the front than the back. With the bags I can even it out a little... I hope.
Sacks are strategically placed on sides of deformed tail, tied on by heavy rope. 'Rider steps back, occasionally adjusting the hefty bags as Brown attempts to hover. Up once again on neck virile beams widely, Brown finally able to stay aloft for longer periods of time with smoother landings.
[I'm doing it, T'gre!]
Yeah you did my Reith. You are doing good.
Joy of two is contagious, smile of boy and practically glowing weyrling cause a general lift of spirits-(
