I have swapped numerous 5.0 HO's into non EFI applications. I just put one in a 75 bronco. If he is running the AOD he should just run a computer for a manual transmission car and use the vacum kickdown for the tranny. That is the way it was designed to work anyway. I always prefer to keep the tranny separate from the engine at all times. But if you don't want to get the manual computer then just don't worry about it. It should run fine without the tranny hooked up even with the auto computer.
