Because it is a study of all the physical sciences, there are the physics, the geology, the chemistry units... each unit can stand on its own. Although having an introduction to chemistry is always a plus, the biology course is written for the student that has little to no understanding of chemistry. If the student had a grasp of chemistry, more can be expected of the student from his/her research. During cell research the chemical process of the Krebs's cycle and in the plant weeks the chemical process of photosynthesis for a few examples.
