Why not have your student research what's in the news these days regarding the immune system! Have your student research what MRSA is: what is it? can it be avoided? is there a cure? Also, ask the student why, in recent years, there seems to be an outbreak of "childhood diseases" (whooping cough, measles...), when it used to be (1970s and 1980s) rare to see one case in the USA. In our area, there is an outbreak of the whooping cough in at least one elementary school and in the local community college.
