Subject: Rob Grohl is a Fucking Poser

I have receive this email for a friend.

Sorry to have to send out this email, but I fear there is a poser at the gates.  I was contacted by Rob Grohl, a promoter involved with the US metal fests.  He was specifically looking for bands to do the New Jersey Metal Fest.  I told him that he could go through our members list and email whatever bands he wanted, but I wouldn't endorse his fests.

I know many of you play these metal fests, but my band isn't involved because I can't see paying over $1,000 to play a show on someone else's gear for 20 minutes.  If you're doing that - that's your business, but that's how I feel about it.  I've got many friends who do the fests, and like I said, that's cool.  But I don't think it's right to rape bands for what little they've got, because they want to do a show where a big national is playing.

This guy also asked me for a free copy of our upcoming compilation cd.  I thought that was pretty shitty, after they gouge bands to play their fests, he expects me to jump when he wants free promo.  So I told him it was $13 (postage included) if he wanted one, and his response was "I'm a huge promoter and don't pay for promo, sorry".  Nice attitude huh?

I'm sure he gets a cut of bands he signs up, so that's what's in it for him.  I don't have a problem with a guy trying to make money, but I won't have him do it with Heavycore's good name behind him.  We try to keep things as cheap as possible for members and only charge when necessary - like our compilations.

I wanted to make you aware of this, because I don't know what his emails are saying, and I didn't want you to get the impression we're vouching for this guy.  You do what you want, but that's Heavycore's stance on the whole thing.  No candy coating - no bullshit.

Please email me if you have any questions or if you EVER feel someone isn't being honest with you.  We can avoid this bullshit if we stick together - brothers helping brothers.
