run the engine at operating temerature (thermostat must be open)with the radiator cap off and see if the coolant is circulating. If not you should definately start by changing the radiator. The water pump usually only needs to be changed when the seal starts to leak...but Ive seen them where the impeller was deteriorated and unable to circulate much fluid. Especially if water was used instead of antifreeze/coolant. If possible change both at the same time as well as any bad condition hoses...new components often cause old ones to fail.
