I have a 1990 Honda Accord EX with an overheating problem that leads to the high revs problem. After driving for a while, putting the car into park makes the revs go up to around 2K and the engine will idle there unless I turn it off and open the hood to let it cool down for a while.

The cooling fan never seems to run, and the engine temperature meter on the dashboard stays around the middle, yet it is overheating.

My fan motor is good because I can short out the fan relay and the fan runs, and I changed the coolant temperature fan switch with no result. I want to test the fan controller, but I do not know whereabouts it is and my hanes manual will not tell me.
