Hi Kurt;

I'm recalling from past memory and reflecting what I've done, however, I've never used an impact tool.

There is a special tool that fits into the hex opening in the center of the crank pully. This tool has a tab that sticks out and accepts a 1/2" breaker bar, which can be set against a structural member to hold the pully. A socket can then be interted in the center of this tool to connect to the crank bolt. Then with another breaker bar and maybe a pipe (to gain additional leverage) you should be able to break the bolt loose. Once you get the bold out, the pully will slide off easily. Shaft end is keyed.

I'm also remembering that there was a clearance problem getting that tool into the hex opening, and I think I had to loosen the left mount and drop the engine slightly.

I befriended a local Honda mechanic (who ran his own independent shop) and he loaned me his crank pully tool. I have also heard that others have rented them from Auto Zone or other parts stores.

I have also heard others recommending setting up your socket/breaker bar on the bolt, and cranking the engine to loosen the bolt, but please don't try that. It certainly wouldn't be safe and not professional at all.

Final torque on the Crank Bolt (in my 90 Accord manual) is 166 ft. lbs.

While you're in there changing the belts, (if not already installed) add a retainer to the front balancer shaft seal. This seal has been known to pop out on this vintage, and Honda sells a retainer that bolts in easily, using the dipstick bolt, and has a semi-circular shape that covers the seal to hold it in.

Hope this helps...

Good luck.

Mike
