I doubt they are modifying any metal. I can guarantee that if the automakers found that you could "condition" metal with an oil additive, they would do it immediately because all manufacturers struggle with their corporate average fuel economy (CAFE).

Labels can pretty much say whatever they want to. Technically, rust is a metal modifier.

Try it and see if you notice a difference and let us know. However, full synthetic oil is the way to go if you can justify the extra cost compared to conventional oils.....good luck, Glen
