With the information you have just presented, try jumping the car and letting it sit with the headlights on and radio on for a while and see if it dies. If it does die then I would guess it is the alternator, but since it sounds like it ran fine after you jumped it, it sounds more like it is the battery. If it is the battery then theoretically you could drive the car for ever as long as you don't run out of gas or shut it off. Try that senario above for a while, and if the light stays on but the car runs fine, it could be the battery. If the car does not die while running for a while (say 30 minutes), then try getting it to a shop to have the electrical system tested. They will be able to determine given the output reads what is failing and replace only what is needed.

Good luck.
Mike
