I just don't know how.

I'm waiting on upping to a higher octane gas... should empty the current tank of 87 after the commute today and tomorrow.

Checking for other rattling sources would help too... but to be honest, I have no idea where the noise originates or how to check. I only assume it is coming from the engine block... but could very well come from another source, as you suggested.

Describing the sound itself is hard too. Kinda like if I was dragging a chain... but more of a hollow sound than that. And only when I apply the throttle... never when I coast or idle.

For the most part, I cannot even hear it during normal operation. I need the windows open, and need to drive next to something... like a wall. I basically get the echo of the sound... not the sound itself. Drive thru an open area and I don't hear the sound at all... or if I do, it is very faint. Drive alongside a building, and it's really loud.

I'll be able to try upping the octane in a day or two. If it weren't for some priority house repairs, I'd take it to a shop right away... but just don't have the cash for that just yet.

Thanks guys.
