I have not heard that before. Do you ever see the SRS light come on? At the based of the key cylinder there is the electrical portion of the ignition switch. It has electrical contacts in it for the ACC, ignition and RUN modes of the vehicle. Since this is electrical it could be arching out causing a snap or a click. Your car is at the age where it is somewhat common for that electrical portion of the ignition switch to begin failing. Just an idea.
