According to my service manual, the computer should ground the white wire coming fom my idle control solenoid(thus activating it)above 1500 rpm, when the engine is hot. This allows vacuum to the #15 hose, which is the outer hose on the distributor's vacuum advance unit. I do have 12V at the solenoid and I've checked the white wire for opens and shorts. My computer turns the solenoid on when the rpm's are over 1500, but only when the engine is cold. When the engine is at operating temperature, the white wire does not get grounded, so the solenoid never gets activated. When the engine gets cold, the solenoid does get activated above 1500rpm. I just want to make sure that my service manual is correct, in stating that I should have vacuum in the #15 hose(above1500rpm) when the engine is HOT. Can anybody please help me before I go and buy a computer? Thanks
