PLease see the solution under "Problems shifting into park" above. The long switch located on the driver side of the shift console needs cleaning. This switch sends the signal that the car is in park. When no signal is sent because of a dirty switch, the interlock system will not release the key from the ignition.

The switch gets full of grease and when the weather is cold the grease thickens and does not let the switch contacts work properly.
