I also have an 02 Accord, and my SRS light came on during the warranty period. It was the OPDS, and they replaced it for me.
About a month ago, I received a letter from Honda informing me of a Warranty Extension for the "Main Components of the OPDS". The warranty is now 10 years or 100,000 miles. It says if the red SRS light stays on, and the problem is the OPDS, it will be relaced free of charge. Also says the inspection is also free.
They included an 800 number if you have any questions...(800) 999-1009. This letter is dated Spring 2006.
Sounds like you would be covered.
