It really depends upon your style and personality. I am ver y "type A" and the Calvert program is perfect for me!! Plus I found a lot of preschools in our area use it for their school so I was happy. Plus even though it is not officially "Christian", it is used by mission parents around the world and the music program in the preschool and kindergarten programs is about 1/3 Christian. So I am very pleased with all of Calverts things. No curriculum is perfect, but this one is really nice.
However if you like to kind of 'do your own thing' and are very organized and creative at the same time, I have known of other moms that have built their own curriculum via the computer and using materials they borrow from the library. Our library has preschool software from different companies (Reader Rabbit, JumpStart, Disney, etc..) that can be borrowed for 3 weeks at a time and renewed (if noone else has their name on it) and you can print off worksheets, lesson plans, etc... from that.
Remember this is preschool! Not rocket science 101. I met a mom that was going to homeschool her daughter and she had all this stuff 'planned' and the daughter was so stressed by the 2nd month of 'school' that it was a mess to see!
Back in the 'good old days' (when I was a girl), preschool was learning ABC's, tying shoes, singing, art, role playing, and FUN..oh, and don't for get the SNACK!!! And it was only for about 2,5 hrs a morning! Since you are homeschooling, then you have all day to spread those 2.5 hrs.
What you have in your mind as Kodak moments may end up being reasons for therapy down the road! LOL!
Whatever you choose, choose with your child and you in mind. If you differ in personality than her, then maybe sit with her for some days and just observe. Is she a neat freak? OR is she kind of the artsy type and just kind of flits from here to there. That will be a big consideration regarding the curriculum.
Plus, see if there are any homeschool fairs in your area. If you aren't sure, usually if you do a search in Google, you can find some in your state and maybe you could go there and get some feedback from other parents.
