Colt moved away from the comforting bulk of his madre, inspecting the plateau with curiosity, and watching what the other horses did to survive, regarding their tussles, and sharp reprimands, deepening his shallow knowledge of the small things in the world, a fowl tasting plant, for instance, or a sharp thorn that dud deep into him, and drew much blood, a small scar lingered on his shoulder, to stay there his life, a reminder of all things sharp and thorny...
