I found a really cool website that has character generators and a village generator. Very good for fantasy stories. It is: http://spitfire.ausys.se/johan/cave/default.asp
An example of the NPC generator would be (got this off that website):

Two elven magicians
1. Glionia (Magician, Leader), female, 350 years old, 171 cm, 66 kg, long brown straight hair, blue eyes Clothes: High, hard boots, brown coat, black blouse and black short skirt Wealth: Average Stats: Weak, normal skill Weapons: Shortsword
2. Eowiodien (Magician), female, 699 years old, 161 cm, 51 kg, short brown straight hair, blue eyes Clothes: High, hard boots, red coat, red bluse and red long skirt Wealth: Average Stats: Normal strength, high skill Weapons: Staff, dagger
