aparently he is actually a whole bunch of guys, some black some white. I'm actually more confused than ever.

You can ask Seril, because he would probably know more than I would, but I think the Green Lantern is almost like an office or something, it can be passed on to different people. The Green Lantern gets his power from a ring, I think.
