Subject: In memory of Zeus the ferret: May 1996–July 30, 2001
There is a little less joy in the underwater grotto today, our beloved little friend Zeus has left us. Test results had indicated that he did not have an infection and was probably experiencing natural kidney failure. Ferrets generally live from 5-7 years, so I guess it was just his time.
The mermaid king checked on him midday yesterday and called me at work to tell me Zeus was in awful pain, he couldn't walk. It was tough to see him like that, he had always been such a happy and active little guy. So with no hope of him getting any better we decided to take him in right away to end his suffering. I left work in the middle of a deadline to do this, which I am paying the price for at my job, but it was important to me to be with him when he went. He now sleeps with his favorite toys under the orange tree in my back yard.
Rest in peace my little friend, we will miss you every day.

Awww...... sorry Glory. I knew a ferret once for a week, the little fellas can really grow on you, in many ways.....
*hugs*
Lynn
One question, though.... would that be 2002 or are you operating in a time-warp?

Whoops, that was a typo. Should have read July 30, 2002. No time warp. :) -- Glory, 23:18:08 07/31/02 Wed [1]

Pets -- Seril, 23:42:52 07/31/02 Wed [1]
Well Glory, I know it sucks, but many of us have been there before. I've lot several hamsters (harvey was a good hamster) in my day and my dog has cancer right now. So I feel your pain.
BTW, if you need a note from a minister to say you were at a funeral or something, I am an ordained minister and can write up such a note. They have to accept it or I can use my divine powers to do stuff to them. Well, I think I can do that. I'll have to check the rules on that though.

Sorry about your dog Seril. And ..... -- Phaedra, 09:50:25 08/01/02 Thu [1]
..... Can *I* have a note from you, as an ordained minister? Just a blanket, absolve me of everything, excuse me from whatever, kind of note? I'll keep it for future use ... kinda like a Get Out of Jail Free pass. Thank you and bless you! :-)

Re: Pets -- Glory, 13:43:35 08/01/02 Thu [1]
Well, hamsters have an even shorter life span than ferrets, so I can appreciate your pain there.
It just sucks when pets get sick, doesn't it? Sounds flippant but there just isn't any other way to say it. It's always sad when they have to leave us, but illness just makes it worse. I'm so sorry to hear your dog is sick. If it helps to talk about it, please keep me updated on his condition. I never tire of talking about pets.
Oh, and can I get one of those funeral notes? What church are you ordained in? :)

Minsters -- Seril, 14:40:17 08/01/02 Thu [1]
Well, even though my dog has cancer, it hasnt spread to her lungs or anything, she just gets a tumor on her bottom jaw that gets removed every so often. So, she might live a good long while yet.
As for my 'holy orders' I'm ordained in the 'Universal Life Church' Getting ordained in other religions (like catholic) is alot harder, so I went with the easiest route possible. I think I stuck it on my resume too. I figured why not, can't hurt. And yeah I can write a funeral note up, but I'm not sure how to make it 'official' other than signing it as a reverend.

Sorry I'm late Glory; you have my sympathy. -- natas, 18:30:31 08/01/02 Thu [1]
Zeus is in a better place now, and not in pain.

You're not late—there's no time limit on comforting words. Thanks, I appreciate it.
Hope you haven't been working too hard yourself lately. :)
