Subject: First Post
Hi everyone, before I start I just want to thank UHC for inviting me here on his message board. I'm a regular Bronzer and was getting tired of all the bitterness that ensues in that website and it's nice to know that there are actually decent fans out there.
As a fan, I spend most of my time usually scowering for news about the show on the net. There are a few times in which I actually find the site interesting and thought provoking. That is why on this first post, I'd like to share an essay someone wrote summarizing Season 6. I thought it was well written, but unfortunately what turned me off was that it was totally one-sided.
It's of course, about the most debatable character from the show, Spike. Basically, she thought the whole season, the Scoobies pretty much abused Spike. Anyway, following post will be her essay, though quite lengthy, it is well written.
So immediately after reading this essay, I forwarded it to my brother-in-law, who recently was just introduced to the whole thing "Buffy". He watched all the episodes in order on FX and watched Season 6 on UPN and boy let me tell you. He became an instant scholar. I admit I'm a fan, but he's way past where I am in less than a year.
Anyway, so I forwarded this lady's essay to him and he immediately was enthralled by it because he found her intelligent by her essay. But he felt that she was totally discrediting the Scoobies for how they treat Spike, who he feels deserve every bit of what he got in Season 6. So he in turn wrote a very long essay also in response to her essay and he emailed it to her and forwarded a copy to me. I was amazed by what he wrote because, like I said, in less than a year, he has understood what each character is and what the Mutant Enemy writers were trying to show on each episode far more better(in my opinion according to The Bornze)than any fan who's been watching it since day 1.
Both essays will be posted and if you wanna respond to any of them. Email me and I'll send them out to the desired authors. To me, I really love both essays, but the one that makes more sense is my bro-in-law's. And not cause he's family, but he makes sense. Anyway, hope you all Enjoy! and UHC, thanks again!

Welcome Spyke69!!! -- Phaedra, 07:22:22 07/03/02 Wed [1]
Well, we haven't really decided on a welcoming greeting for newcomers. Some thoughts - a trip to Shell's dungeon with whips and chains and such; a tournament, or joust; and, my personal favorite, sitting down to a conversation with the wandering sage, Seril. Hey, if you can get through that with your mind intact, well then you did better than any of us. Cuz I kinda like my mind out of tact:) You will get to know everyone here pretty quickly. So welcome, and enjoy, I'm going to go read the essays now! :)

Well, I for one, have my welcoming all figured out. -- Mistress Shell, of the Castle Dungeon, 07:56:59 07/03/02 Wed [1]
*takes Spyke69 down to the dungeon, and tortures him mercilessly with whips, chains, and a myriad of other devices that would make you say "Eww!" Brings him back upstairs, with a satisfied smirk on her face.*
OK, everybody! Rest easy! Spyke69 is not a spy! Get this man (?) a drink!

Welcome!!
All the men are being quiet today, so, yes, do enjoy the company of females:) Still haven't read the essays you posted, but plan to spend my lunch hour doing just that. Surprise! I'm a Spike fan. But first and foremost, I'm a BTVS fan. So I love to hear any and all comments or opinions (most of the time:).

Those essays are well worth the read. I have just actually gotten a forward from my bro-in-law. I guess the lady that wrote the first essay responded to his essay. So I will post that on here later. In the meantime I'll just relax here... :-)

Hey! :) welcome! -- Rachel, 08:12:48 07/03/02 Wed [1]
I'll be sure to take a peek at those essays, which, by the way, thankyou for sharing. I'm always interested in what other people have to say on the characters.
Hope to see you posting, and enjoy your time here! The castle is very warm and friendly!
