Renee,
I'm looking for some advise that I can pass on to my father. He lost a Pek recently and I found another one a few months ago and he is once again a proud happy Pek owner. Toby is now close to 6 months old and my dad has had him into the vet a few times for checkups, and more recently because of some breathing problems. My dad describes to me that Toby occastionally snorts/weezes as if he is grasping for air. The vet explained Peks have skin or something in their wind pipe that can make it difficult for them to breathe. Toby has also had a runny nose and seems congested in the morning. The vet perscribed baby benedryl, which my dad has been giving him 2x a day for the last 10 days, it's not getting worse, but my dad is worried that he'll have to live on baby benedryl and will never kick it.

Your message noted that Peks that don't have a problem breathing when their pups won't have a problem when they're older. I'm really hoping I can reassure my dad that this will be something little Toby will grow out of. Any suggestions you can give, I truly appreciate. Should I recommend he take him to a specialist of some kind, do specialist exist, and how do I find one?

Thank you so much.
Missy
