Subject: Breeding your Peke

Hi
As a long time breeder of other breeds and a new peke owner, I would like to discourage you from breeding your peke. Breeding any dog should be done to improve breed type and characteristics and you have already told us that your dog is lacking in those areas. Undershot mouth is undesireable because it leads to digestive problems, coat is a major issue in this breed. If you desire to become a breeder, go to a dog show and meet some breeders. Buy a dog from one of them that will mentor your efforts. We always need to look to improving any breed not perpetuating poor quality. There are lots of dogs in the shelter that will provide love if anyone offers it to them.
