Dear Dirk,

Another way to fix this is to install a different forum, which isn't public but requires registration. Then, you can require that the subscriber clicks on a so called 'Activation-link' in an email automatically sent to them when they register.

An example of a forum like this, which is free and I use myself, can be found here:
