I am also appearing for the grade 5 exam this October. I have not yet started practicing for the exam. I used to play this piece a few years ago.
With a metronome at a comfortable tempo, play the piece correctly. Next increase the tempo by a notch, and still play correcty. Repeat this process till you reach the required speed. Also feeling the music will help you in keeping a good tone. Maybe you already know all these . Hope this helps. Bye..
