I think that you have to evaluate between copyright and promotion. Cantico by Peter Nuttall, for example, and Peter Nuttall himself were unknown to me if I did not see them on "Dirks Guitar Page". Now maybe I find a Nuttall's book in my music store and buy it.
Now the "moral rightness" question. There are questions of "legality" in putting copyrighted work on a web page and there are questions of "moral rightness" in putting Mozart, Bach or traditional music on copyrighted work.
Remember: the greatest artist of the past centuries (Homer, Shakeaspeare, ... , Bach, etc.) did not get any royalty for they work.
