Von does have a very talented team but to stay that they are the best team in Illinois at this time is CRAZY. Von will have struggles against the elite teams this year, especially in the post, which are teams like Bolingbrook, Whitney Young, and Fenwick to name a few. Von will be state contenders maybe next year when there core players get more experience. Although Ortiz will be leaving, the group that will be there still will be very talented and Coach Hopson is very talented also. Von the best team in the state this year, NO! Upcoming years, BIG possibility.

Von is good the best no, high school teams are one thing AAU another. Even though these kids have talent very good for a chicago team they don't stack up to private school. Trinity, Fenwick , Ressurection,Montini, Loyola. These are not the only schools by any means just examples. Kids with good grades / good skills go places, it that simple.

My answer is not racist, rather this all I seem to hear about was Von ,are they they best no, will they prove me wrong, who knows, is there alot of good players in public league, sure there are , do they go downstate state consistantly? I am just tired of hearing about the same schools, or same player. I see many AAU tourneys as well as high school games across the board , Just give credit where it is due. Those schools I mentioned as well as many others produce D1 players. As for beating Loyola great, only one of the teams I mentioned went downstate. Bottom line

Also as far as the chicago public goes Witney Young is impressive. The kids complement each other well.
