Subject: Another question . . .

My brother and I were talking politics the other night. The subject of illegal aliens came up. My brother served a mission in Mexico and has a lot of compassion towards the illegal aliens. He is a sealer in the Chicago Temple and works with a few other temple workers who are illegal aliens. I asked him how it is that illegal aliens can get temple recommends. He asked what would be the problem with giving them temple recommends. I responded that it seemed to me to be an issue of being honest in your dealings with your fellow man. His reply was that the illegal aliens that he knew were totally honest in every way, except for the fact that they are illegal. I don’t have a problem with them having temple recommends. Not at all. But my question is whether or not it is dishonest to be an illegal alien. Also, if we believe in obeying, honoring and sustaining the laws of the land, why doesn’t it apply here? Another disclamer—I DON’T believe in honoring, obeying and sustaining all the laws of the land. Some "laws" are immoral and I feel no moral obligation to obey them. Any thoughts?
