You did say that if one had a living will then this would not even be an issue.
My point is that even with a living will there are some things that just can not be because it is illegal even if it is in a living will.

"brain is no longer functioning"
her brain is functioning...granted on a much lower level then we would like but it is functioning. Her heart is beating all by its self without any help. Her lungs are breathing without any help. The only thing she needs help with is to eat...so how is this not like euthanise or assisted suicide?
She is going to die because of a direct action by her doctors and husband....and it will take a week or two for her to die to boot.

"extreme measures to preserve or prolong life"

Is a feeding tube really an extreme measure to preserve life?

"And that is where Terri is. She is on the same level as a baby or a plant. That doesn't make her a candidate for state authorized murder."

While I dont agree with the idea that she is at the level as a plant I do agree that this seems to be a state authorized muder!

I think it would be different if she stoped breathing on her own or if her heart stoped beating on its own to let her go but to remove her feeding tube....well in my mind it is the same as euthanise.
Like I said we dont even put murders to death by withholding food and water until death over takes them.

Its a very sad situation

Blessings
Jean
