Subject: To answer your question again...

Jay, you asked an atute question about who I really thought was in charge. I do read a lot of alternative news sources on the web, because one, I really dislike the stupidity of DU and Daily Kos, not to mention other lefty blogs, though I have been to them and have agreed with some of their points.

I ran across this in my reading, and thought you needed to read this. The first MG's comments are highly instructive and to the point of the garbage the military has had to put up with. The reason why Murtha's comments were so derided was that he spoke out of turn, before the investigation was complete and was willing to hang the perpetrators. Others have called for Rumsfeld's resignation, but these men were retirees long before the war happened and were not necessarily in sync with the active duty military.

These three flag officers have BTDT and their observations and suggestions are appropos. BUT again, read the first MG's comments carefully. He refers to a secret war...
The whole thing is worth a read. It may answer some of your questions, but it did solidify what I had known for some time: Rumsfeld is NOT a Good Leader. Bush was better than Clinton, but how this general characterizes Rumsfeld is indicative of the whole blasted attitude of the military. Which is one of the reasons my husband got out. West Pointers don't normally risk their pensions to
point out the Emperor has no clothes. I have known WP officers who should never have been allowed to graduate and during Reagan/Bush were kept back and out of sight where they belonged.

Once Clinton got into office, things changed. Dramatically.

Well, here is the link:

I put that in there in case the link doesn't work.
