Subject: I tend to think . . .
In reply to: Cricket 's message, "more questions here" on 05:52:33 09/10/06 Sun

. . . that we might be wasting our time trying to even talk on this subject. For starters, your post is based on the presumption that OBL has already committed terrorism on American soil.

I don't have any firm position either way. I just like to talk about the possibilities, leaving nobody out of the equation. Perhaps OBL is a terrorist, perhaps he's just a scapegoat. Is Bush a better leader than Clinton or was Clinton a less bad president than Bush is? I could go either way. But I think that both are puppets who answer to people more powerful than the rank and file citizens. Maybe the offical 9/11 conspiracy theory is how it really happened. Maybe the Alex Joneses of the world have it right. Maybe they're all lying to us. One thing that I can tell you is that in terms of trust, I don't believe most of what Bush says, almost nothing of what Cheney says, and the same with Rumsfeld, Ashcroft and especially Condie. Rush is a four letter word in my dictionary as well as Sean Hennedy (sp) and almost anything that comes from the mainstream press, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, CNN, etc.

I view the war as a total waste of taxpayer money and am opposed to it morally, legally and because it simply, in my book, doesn't fit the description of "common defense". I won't be flying my flag tomorrow in memory of 9/11. I don't think we've been told the truth. I don't think we've ever been told the truth about Pearl Harbor, either. My support for the military is strictly in terms of praying for their safety, and I pray for the safe return of all servicemen from all sides. I regard them as children of God who is not a respector of people and isn't an American, contrary to what most LDS people seem to think. I don't regard the servicemen, generally, as heroes, because I don't believe that they are fighting for our freedom, although, I do believe that many of them feel that they are and I respect that about them. I feel that the war is strictly political and I believe that it's mostly about drugs and oil and that those servicemen and women who have died are giving their lives for an evil agenda. Which is why I regard them as victims, not as heroes. I don't believe that we will ever "win" the war in Iraq, because I don't believe that such an outcome is possible. I only believe that minimizing the damage is the best we can hope for.

I've read stories from servicemen who have told of the many Iraqi people who have thanked them for what they have done for their country. On the other hand, I've read about and talked to families of servicemen whose experiences are just the opposite. So who does one believe?

You see, I think, and maybe I'm wrong, that you hope to get me into a friendly debate or discussion about what we should be doing, or digging up all the "what if's". It's not that way with me. I believe that we live in a country that has forsaken God, not totally, yet, but largely so, and have become subject to the will of various secret combinations. I really don't think that my vote or yours is going to make a bit of difference until we bring God back into our collective lives. We're just living Book of Mormon prophecies all over again and we're on a slippery slope downward. It's not that I'm all gloom and doom about this. I just think that it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better, and we're sleeping in the bed that we've made for ourselves. My best outlook is just to do the best I can to keep my own house in order.

I hope I haven't offended you in anything I've said. Just expressing my own views. Thanks for listening.

Jay
