The church doesn't council having a 72-hr kit. Although I'm not sure why someone would advocate against them. I think it would depend on where you lived. If you live in an area that has sudden or widespread disasters (i.e. earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes) I'd have one. Most people live in an area where they need to have an evacuation plan and a 72-hr kit would be essential to that plan. IMVHO
