Here's quite a story that I think all of you will enjoy...

I was showering one morning when I heard my dog going nuts. I shut off the water and just listened for a couple seconds. I heard a man's voice. ( I knew it wasn't my dad because he uses the back door and the dog doesn't bark like crazy AFTER he comes in. ) I open the door and go into the hallway ( on the second floor ) and listen for a few more seconds, where its clear that I don't know the man OR the other man that I heard as well! I quietly go up to my room and get one of our rifles and go back to the second floor. I went into the doorway to my sister's room and pointed the rifle at the entrance to the stairs going downstairs and waited. I heard them walk up a few steps and they started yelling, "Hello?! Hello?!" I thought this was strange. By now I was quite scared. After a few seconds, the one man goes, "Mr. Nebelski?! Its Bob Coleman from Johnston Realty..."

So I go downstairs ( with gun in hand ) and asked what the hell they were doing because I almost shot them. The man with him was from the CITY OF ALTOONA there to make sure we put in our ( let me rephrase that... to make sure we RE-DID ) smoke detectors. Because of this, they came into our house ( which we are renting ) and almost got shot.

We had smoke detectors, but a few months earlier the city had come in for an inspection and found a few things wrong with our house. The 1st floor smoke detector needed to be 2 feet away on the other side of an open doorway wall. The 3rd floor smoke detector needed to be on the other side of a window, and the hand rail to the third floor needed replaced.

I know it sounds awful, but part of me wished they HAD come around that corner at the top of the stairs. Sure, if Bob Coleman had been in front I would have recognized him and not shot, but it would have at least caused them to soil their pants. But if it was the other guy first, I may have fired. The funny thing is, I had always planne on what I would do and hiding on the second floor waiting was just one of my plans. One of them involved never seein their faces until AFTER I shot them in the legs ( due to the set-up of our stairs ) If I had decided on that one......... yeah.

I was tasting the blood after that little visit to say the least...
