Subject: How about this...

Youth may be VERY narrow-minded. That's very true! Most are entirely too idealistic and very one-tracked ( I'm not exempting the possibity of ME being in that category. LOL. ) But at least youth have not begun to figure out all of the stuff they can vote themselves from the public treasury. LOL. For many adults, complacency and apathy preceeds them; while most youths are preceeded by dreams and perfection.

I'm not a big fan of age discrimination. That last sentence may get a snicker from someone out there... LOL... but its true. I'm 19 and unable to buy, own, or carry a handgun. Why not??? Because people my age misuse them. NEWSFLASH... people my age STILL misuse them even though it is illegal for them to even have them. I have been shooting since I was 3 years old. I'm better than my brother who is an Illinois state cop and has a ranking of 'sharpshooter'. I am perfectly capable of owning and carrying one, but I can't because SOME people my age abuse it. We are not a country founded upon group rights. We are individuals and must be looked upon and treated as individuals.

That being said, I suppose I should come up with my own solution for voting. If I don't, I'll sound silly. LOL. Here's my idea... The voting age is 18, since, at age 18, one becomes a LEGAL adult. BUT, anyone under age 18 can also vote, but THEY have to take a test of basic American knowledge. It would NOT be discriminating in any way since they are not legal adults yet. If a 7 year old can state the year the constitution was ratified and explain all 10 Bill of Rights adequately, then let the little tike vote! He's already more knowledgeable than 80% of the American population! This would, in turn, help legal adults have better knowledge, since most who are serious about voting will take these tests when younger.
