Subject: Understanding of what freedom is.
In reply to: Leif Erlingsson, heretic® 's message, "It could be lack of faith..." on 05:06:05 06/03/05 Fri

Leif, I would not deign to pretend that I understand how things are in nations far from my home... yes, it is a small world, but the vast differences in culture from one country to another indicate that it still is much bigger than we think. I think that regardless of the news coverage around the world, until you know the history, the hearts and minds of a people, you can understand little about the workings of their government. But one corner of this earth, I am familiar with. One corner I know and understand. That is here, the U.S.

The greatest thing that prevents Americans from fighting for their freedom is failure to understand what those freedoms are... not only what rights are and where those rights come from, but also not understanding the responsibilities that come from those rights. Liberty has become diluted from a passionate desire to shape and control personal destiny to
frivolous and fleeting pursuits. Americans now think they have freedom because they can choose what movie they see on Saturday night... they pick the house they want to buy, and purchase what items they want at the super-wal-mart. They fail to see that they cannot build a shed, marry, or even own a dog without a government permit. They cannot own their own restaurants without being told the demensions of the bathroom doors or if they can choose to allow people to smoke or not in their business. They think it sounds 'reasonable' to fine someone for parking an RV in their own side yard, or for having a lawn mower within the eyesight of someone driving down an alley. They have fallen for the idea that it is the rightful role of the "government" to determine what and when their children are to be taught... how to read, write, have self-esteem and never think badly of 'alternative lifestyles.' They think that it takes a village to raise a child, and all villages must be shoved and squeezed into the same mold, so that every child has the benefit of the great benefactor guidelines.

The Bible uses a phrase "slight of man". It brings to mind a magician, and his familiar 'slight of hand.' One hand quickly slyly performs a little trick, while the magician boldly captivates his audience with the other hand. None-- or few- perceive how they have been fooled... and even those aware that something has gone on there do not understand exactly what happened or what it portended.

This is happening BIG TIME in America, and Leif, it is not only here that it is happening. You seem particularly stuck on the idea that the US is a villain while most of the world is innocently stands by as victims. I think that is baloney. A look at the advancement of socialism in other countries, including much of Europe, shows many of them to be working to advance this cause. Many of these countries are even ahead of the U.S. in many areas. The idea that the United Nations is a nobel organization out to advance the freedom of the world is, IMO, a bunch of baloney. The UN has done much to destroy the sovereignty of the United States, and is an enemy to her. It is an enemy to freedom.

You seem to believe that there is a "New United States Order" instead of a New World Order. If you pick up a coin and hold it very close to your eye, Leif, your entire vision will be taken up by the coin, so that it seems enormously large and little else is there. But if you hold the same coin away at arms length, you see the coin at it's true size, and all else that lies behind it.

Think of the word "World". It does not mean U.S. It means the world as we know it. Planet earth.
