Subject: I think it's a point of law

My own opinion, of course. I don't think that the judge is being over ruled by the sheriff or the visa versa. The judge is responsible for what goes on in his court and the sheriff is responsible for what goes on in his jail. There are situations where they simply have to let people go because of things like over crowding, and the sheriff has to make those decisions. I think it was a poor political decision, and yes, in answer to your question, I think that it makes a bad precedence for others who would want to get out based on medical needs. It stinks all around.

Yeah, it is a bit of a revolt and internal struggle. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds. There are people who are shouting "contempt of court" at Baca, but the way I understand the law, he's not in contempt by virtue of his office. The judge, on the other hand, may be out of line. But who judges a judge? Usually, nobody. And the elections rarely correct these kinds of errors.

Jay
