Subject: gt gt granfather

I am trying to find information on leonel joseph hearldon/amourdon who lived in new zealand until his death in 1932 he was married to nina james then to my gt gt grandmother elizabeth worthington he had a daughter mavis hearldon my aunt contacted nina james family and was told to drop the subject ,we dont know anything about him except that was supposed to be a chef and that he was born in mauritius although his 1st marraige certificate says peru? can anyone help please
