Subject: Which way does the scale tip?

The glade’s canopy acted as a light filter, allowing only the softer tones of light access to this momentous occasion, which the women that slipped in also hoped for access to. Her simple tunic of earthen hues fell from her shoulders as if it had hung there for years, which –though moments of breakings were of course used for hygiene’s sake- was true for she found little necessity in brightly coloured or newly sewn works of art to be her clothing. Her quick and multi coloured eyes pin pointed every movement they were able to with sharp motions of her head, sending her long braid swinging back and forth, but because of it’s weight, not to ridiculous angles.

She took a deep breath, concentrating on the task at hand, gripping the small leather bag in her hand tightly before relaxing her grip again and opening her eyes to the challenge before her with a renewed assuredness from a silent moment with herself, within herself. She slipped into the cocky character most knew her as, the persona she had created for other’s viewings. Yet she could feel her knees jiggling ever so slightly beneath her, she ignored the body’s desperate outcry that she was afraid and walked forward towards the Rian. She slipped her hand over her stomach and dipped her head slightly, words forming unbidden on her tongue, slipping out the corners of her mouth before she gave them what she deemed appropriate consideration

“Greetings, my name is Kietra, please accept this gift”

Nervously she held out the leather bag, locking her arm out stretched to the creature much much larger than she. She could picture the two things in the bag perfectly as she had taken about two days to choose what exactly to bring. She kicked herself now for the stupidity of her choices and hoped the Rian wouldn’t kick her for her over sentimental choices. One was logically enough for one who had just given birth, food and water. She had salted and stored the meat earlier and the water was in a skin that was easily enough opened by any creature, and the biggest one she owned. The other item was what seemed stupid to her now, the quartz rock she had discovered while back, smoothed by the thousands of lappings of the water spirits, rounded to perfection. Yet what use did the great beast have for a pretty stone? She chorused the word stupid on an endless ribbon in her mind, though her outer appearance remained as calm as she could keep it, the few winds that wiggled their way into the glade ruffling her bangs.

While she waited for the approval or the disapproval of the Rian she looked around quickly at the plenty and their interests in the other candidates for their attentions.

“They’re a beautiful brood, and if that’s not the truth I’m male”

She whispered a half smile on her face, she supposed she should say something of the like to Coriad but decided to wait ‘til after the contents of her gift were examined. She looked to Jallya, the bonded one, and then to her ‘Mate, nodding with a smile to each in a wordless congratulations. Finally her wandering gaze turned back to the subject at hand, her breath caught in her throat as she stared up into those brilliant, enfolding eyes, only belonging to a Wytti. She felt her chest constrict at the thought of this being her only chance to do something important with her life, to understand the intricate bond between Dwi and Wytti and feel the Wytti’s life clinging to her heart, mind and spirit as her’s was so solely set on it’s. What matter was breathing when she had this myriad of thoughts cascading through the bowels of her being? She waited.
