Subject: ~ Softly ~

Slow steps are taken, their sound muffled slightly by the dirt underneath, leaving only footprints of where someone had once walked upon the ground here. Her shadow slid along on the path silently as usual behind her, following her every move. The way the wind played with her hair, her slight hand movments, the way she held herself up and positioned herself. The sun shone on above, unconcerned by what went on down upon the ground, shining it's bright yellow light upon all who were down below it, the sky hued a bright baby blue, clouds going across the sky, playing with the rays of light which poured out from the golden ball of the sun. The wind whipped playfully about, playing with everything that it came across. Tendrils of pale blue hair snaked through the air, tree branches and leaves waved back and forth, almost as though greeting someone that no one else could see. Or perhaps they were greeting the sun - it was quite early in the morning right now. Or perhaps they were just playing. It was hard to understand the trees; much easier to understand the wind or the clouds. They made quite a bit more sense then the trees did. Who knew why the trees waved their branches and shook their leaves? Not Maia, certainately.

And it was Maia who was slowly making her way through the birch trees, on her way to the birch glen. Softly she moved, the wind playing through her pale blue hair, her shadow on the ground, often disappearing when the shadows of the trees became to thick, the lush and abundent canopy of the birch trees blocking out the light and heat of the sun to give way to the cool forest path that Maia was following. Maia's breathing was quick, even though she was not doing anything strenous at the moment. Her cheeks and face were flushed red, which was odd for the girl, as her skin never was red - it always remained the same pale white color, several shades lighter then her hair ever was.

She began to get closer to where the glen entrance was. She could hear the soft murmer of voices, though she was not yet close enough yet to pick out indivual words. Her pace quickened though she did not conciously direct it to; unluckily, her body did things that it was not supposed to do when she got nervous. As she was now. I don't know why I am nervous. It's nothing big. I don't have to talk much to them, I suppose... The thought fluttered through her mind. She disliked talking, she didn't see the point. Her father had perfered her to stay silent, and he was the only person that she had seen growing up, really. It had become a matter of habit not to talk much anymore, she really was much better off alone with her thoughts, wasn't she?

She reached the entrance to the glen and stopped dead in her tracks, only her innate sense of balance keeping her from falling flat upon her face in front of those that she wanted to impress upon so badly. I just have to recite what I made up last night. It will be okay. I can do this. She told herself forcefully in her mind. Her hands clenched into fists she closed her eyes, letting the feel of the wind wash over her, scented by scents that she could not recognize. Her hands relaxed, as did the rest of her posture. The wind always comforted her; it always had. Her pale blue hair settled in place as it normally did, brushing gracefully againest her shoulders, her eyes blinking gently as she looked around, getting used to the sights that she now saw.

Girls were thoughtout the glen, almost all girls. That was all that she saw, anyways, but then again, she did sometimes miss things. She took in the appearances of all those that were there, the sound of their voices now clearly reaching her ears, accents, everything went into one ear and right out the other. What had caught her eyes were the plenyts. She examined each one in turn, knowing that there were eight of them, silently watching each, wondering if one was to become partenered and bonded with her. A small smile brushed across her face at the thought. She should stop getting ahead of herself, she had to do one thing at a time, and right now, it was probably the most polite thing to introduce herself to their parents first. They had been on the edge of her sight the whole time, and now she stepped up to them. Several other girls were talking to them, too, so she gratefully waited, staying silent for now, pale hued eyes watching the two adults and the plenyts. Perhaps...
