In reply to: Doesn't sound like CHP issue to me. 's message, "The dash is still the original green?" on 10:23:46 10/07/02 Mon

Back around 1982 a fellow student brought his father's 1973 Dodge Polara into auto shop class at Mt Lebanon High School (near Pittsburgh Pa.) to do a valve job. I had the privilage of assisting with the project. I immediately noticed the orange dual snorkle air cleaner. Wow a 440 Hp in an old man's car! I realized that this was an old police car of some sort after seeing the 140 mph speedo. I never saw such a white/metalic steering wheel like that on a 70s mopar with a full horn ring. YES it had a DARK GREEN, plain interior. The car was purchased in Ca. by my friend's father to tow a camper before his family returned to Pittsburgh and he was proud that it was a former marked CHP car. The car had been re-painted a crappy dark teal color but I remember that the fire wall was shiny black as was inside of the trunk lid. wish I could locate that car today! Yes It ran good even after our first valve job.

I stand corrected and I apologize. I thought the CHP Polara interiors were gray in 1973 (NT)Green egg on my face10:18:46 10/08/02 Tue
