Subject: Finally Made It o The Guntersville Dam 6/9

Well, my buddy that was going with me couldn't be found so I decided to go on my own for the first time. I knew the Ditto area would be a mess cause of all the rain and as I passed it on Hobbs Island road I saw just how muddy it was.
I got there about 7 and it was not crowded at all..Man that is a long back up with a trailer to get down to the water..
There was no current as I drifted with the north breese across the channel by the ramp. The water was calm and quite clean..I noticed that the boats that were going out were headed away from the Dam down neas som nearby Bluffs. So I motored down that away to see where they all were. I was at ease seeing that almost all the boats were small older boats like mine..I had to go to the bluffs and ended it anchoring in about 31-34 ft..My depth finder was showing all kinds of activity close to the bottom so I set out my 3 heavier poles with my circle hooks( size: 2 & 4) loaded with night crawlers. It wasn't long before I got the first small channel cat..and the fun began..the current had picked up slightly and was carrying my lines softly down stream..which I knew was my sign of luck..It wasn't long before I had landed a total of 13 fish 2-4.5lbs each..I even had to keep the lid on my cooler snapped cause they kept flipping it open each time I added a fish..whew! At 12:00 I figured enough fish to clean..and headed back to the ramp..I did notice a lot more boats fishing the tailraces and I now see where they are..hmmm I think I will venture closer to the Dam..I am still after my supersized Cat..my day will come tho I am not sure I'd want to be alone trying to get a 20lber in my boat by myself..ha! ha.Not to fear I have a plan..with my gaff and some rope I'll just tie the'sucker' to the side of the boat and drag it in..believe me if and when I catch this guy..I am gonna KEEP it! He! HEE!
