Aww, poor babies! I am glad they are with someone who will take care of them now! Getting them started on good quality food will help alot.
Alot of people use sugar scrub, I buy a bottle of it at walmart, although if you look thru the board, I think someone gave a simple recipie.. I do believe its white sugar mixed with olive oil?
For shampoo, I use sebalyte. I am thinking of switching soon. I have heard good things about Keratolux and Benzoil Plus.. I just havent decided which one I want to try yet. When bathing I use a pair of exfoliating gloves, and gently massage the skin to lather.
Some of those shampoos can be very drying. I like to use a conditioner or conditioning shampoo on the skin/hair after the bath.
Some people like to use human acne products, such as noxema and johnson's. I have seen more people using keratolux and benzoil tho.
Alot of people use listerhazel in between baths.. its a 50/50 mix of listerine (the original brown kind, any other flavor will make the skin sticky) and witchhazel. The witchazel is a natural astrigent, and the listerine kills bacteria that cause breakouts. You can put in a spray bottle and mist the skin, and then wipe clean with a beauty pad/cotton ball.. or just soak either in the mixture and wipe the skin. I have a separate pair of spa gloves that I use instead of the beauty pad/cottonballs.
Choose lotions carefully. You will want to avoid anything with lanolin in it. Look for something that doesnt clog pores. I use curel ultra healing. Some people also like ecuerin (sp?)
I have seen other people say that they like the St ives apricot scrub, and others mentioned using mint julep mask. I havent tried the St Ives, but I have done the mint mask. Dont use the mask for every bath, it is somewhat drying, although it does help a little.
I have also recently seeing people raving about a product called Missing Link. Its a food suppliment. I havent tried it myself yet, although I'd like to. People have said that they notice a BIG difference in the condition of their dogs skin/coat when they used this.
I do have to add, clean environment makes a big difference too. For example, if I take Fred to visit my inlaws (who smoke badly) I do notice he breaks out a little more. keeping clothing, bedding, and some of his favorite places to lay clean just make a difference.
Its alot of trial and error to find out what works best for your cresties. I hope this helps! Good luck!
