My dog is 11 yrs old and has had a murmur for at least 5 yrs. There are degrees from one - 5. My dog is at a 3 right now with no symptoms. She is well and in her case it is age related. There are meds available when the time is right to help. Your Vet will let you know. Just keep an eye out for a faster than normal heart beat. It's easier to find a pulse with your finger in the groin area, right inside the thigh
