well i have a sad situation...

i had to seize a puppy from the origional buyers.
hes from an accidental litter and i still have the mother and father.
mother is 10lbs powderpuff with the sweetest gentlest personality
father is a 5 1/2 lb hairy hairless whos a little bit of a crazy nut (and still a puppy in himself as hes only reacently turned 2.

puppy is a 5 1/2 month old true hairless, hes red and white with a cute white mohawk and tail. hes a tad chunky, id say about 1/2 lb overweight and very solid.
his ears are errect.

i am rehoming him becasue he deserves a family of his own, i have both his parents and live with family right now who have 4 dogs of their own...its simply unfair to not give him the oportunity to have a wonderfull home all of his own!

i only got him home this morning...so im working on getting his vets statments, however he will be up to date on shots and neutered before he's rehomed. (hes a little young but id rather not risk it since the origional owners husband was tryign to sell him with full breeding rights despite him being bought on a neuter contract)

i am his origional breeder, accidental litter and the mother has since been spayed.

He has NEVER bitten, and lived with a 2 year old child who was very much a handfull, he is great with kids (though as with all dogs id introduce slowly and gently)
however he did share a bed with their toddler every night!!!
he seems warey of new people at first, but seems to warm up quickly, no growling/posturing, just unsure and some barking. it took him about 15 mins to remmeber/warm up to me and my sister when we went to get him.
i think this is 100% a lack of socilization this past 2 months rather than a real behavioural issue and at 5 1/2 months old i think this is a problem that can be overcome very easily with some friendly people and treats.

he LOVES cats! mabe a little too much.
his back is covered in some very large scars form cat claws, this was explained away as "he plays rough with the cats" but many of the scars look more like hed been attacked by their cats rather than injured during play. many of the scars will fade but he has one running all the way down his side thats likley perminent.

other dogs are a little...unsure. he is VERY warey of strange dogs, again this is lack of socilization, it took him a couple of hours to settle down once he got him back here...
but once he had it was like a switch came on and he whent from doing all he could to avoid my 2 to actually wagging sniffing and even intiiating an attempt at play.
his interaction with mine at first was a few growls tail tucked and lots of avoidance/escape, he didnt bare his teeth once, he simply avoided confrotnation.

i have no doubt that with some patients and the correct intros he woudl do fine in a multi dog home.

now for the "bad" stuff.
hes not yet crate trained...he was...now hes not...im sure this would be relitivly easy fixed, he will be sleeping in a pack and play for now.
hes not housebroken...he WAS, but aparently "forgot" much of this i think has more to do with their methods than anything else. this was a huge part of the husbands issues with him, however their method involved once every 8 hours and locking the dog on the deck plus a lack of supervisation.
we will be working on this daily and i hope to have him more reliable before he goes to a new home but no promises, its something his new family will have to continue working on.
hes NOT leash trained...we WILL be working hard on this as right now hes afraid of his leash, this may or may not be a potential issue for his new family
hes currently afraid of outside. the wind blows and he jumps, hes already showing improvment in this and im sure this will change drastically by the time he goes to his new home...BUT its something to be aware of.

as of right now ill be getting his vets info so i can chase down the shot records and hell be given a thorough once over by my vet before going to his new home.
there will be a small adoption fee and id prefer to rehome him within the tri-state area. (we're in connecticut)

hes a real sweet puppy and he is still very much a puppy! i think he has a great deal of potential to make someone a very sweet loving pet, as we speak hes curled on my lap loving every minute of it.

if anyone knows of any leads for a new home for this little guy...ive got lots of pictures and can give alot more detail to anyone truly interested.
id LOVE to find him a home asap. he deserves it!
