ANDREW "MOR" HANLON was born between 1833 and 1840 in Mullaghduff which lies in County Donegal, Ireland between the villages of Annagry and Kincasslagh. He was a farmer and cobbler, son of William Hanlon and Mary (surname unknown).
He married Sile Gallagher from Ballymanus, County Donegal c. 1860 and they raised eight children in Mullaghduff. Those we know of are:
1. HUGH HANLON, b. 27 Nov 1864, d. 26 Feb 1956.
Lived in Mullaghduff, married Catherine "Kitty" Duffy of Meenacreeve. They had 11 children: Andrew (c. 1894), John (1897- 18 Sep 1879), Cecelia "Sissy" (1899 - 26 Feb 1971), Margaret "Maggie" (29 Jan 1901), Patrick (16 Mar 1903 - 1966), Mary (c. 1905), Bridget (c. 1907), William (c. 1910 - 25 Feb 1990), Hugh (c. 1912 - c. 1997), Catherine "Cassie" (c. 1915 - 30 Sep 1998), Anne (10 Aug 1918).
2. PATRICK HANLON, born c. 1866 Immigrated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA. Married Bridget (surname Unknown) and lived at 1639 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh. Had at least 4 children: James (c. 1893), William (c. 1900), Patrick jr. (c. 1905), Annie (c. 1910).
3. ANNE HANLON, born 14 Sep 1866. Married Mr. Hill, lived in Glasgow, Scotland. Had a daughter Cissy Hill who married a Mr. Patterson.
4. FANNY HANLON, born 23 May 1868. Believed to have remained in the Mullaghduff area near Annagry or Dungloe, County Donegal, Ireland.
5. WILLIAM HANLON, born 23 Jun 1870. No further info.
6. MARY HANLON, born 5 Mar 1872 Married Charlie Sharkey. Lived in Marameelan near Dungloe.
We believe the two unidentified children may have been:
7. WILLIAM HANLON, likely the first born, c. 1862/1863 and died young - before 1870.
8. ANDREW HANLON, c. 1870, probably immigrated to Pittsburgh.
