Hello,
I just replaced my (failing) 4GB drive with a 12GB Hitachi drive for about $280. I wanted to buy an IBM Travelstar, and I called about ten different places but none had them in stock. I finally found one (pcprogress.com) that did, but then they also had Hitachi drives with twice the capacity for the same price, and the same (manufacturer's) warranty. So I went with that.

If you still have the original help files that came from Transmonde, it says you can take any 2.5" HD that's less than 11.5mm (but check that number, don't take my word for it!). The Hitachi drive I got was 9.5mm. Just unscrew the cover for the HD, unscrew the drive from the cady, gently remove and very gently loosen the connector from the old drive, and then reverse your steps and you are home free.

Let me know if you need any help, and I'm sure someone else can point out if I've left anything out.

LL

ps - these HD's are VERY skinny - I couldn't believe that they hold 12GB in something about the size of an index card and thinner than a piece of bread!
