A year or so ago I had a problem where my unit would reboot by it self. I found it was a broken solder joint where the ac adaptor connected to the computer. I could also wiggle it and cause the problem. Maybe you have a similar fault. This did cause the computer to reboot. I would have expected it to run on battery but there is something about how this solder joint was broke that didn't switch to battery when it was wiggled.
