I have the same problem with my XL. First, This Flex based modems don't seem to perform as well as X2 based modems.
But I found that if I disconnected the power cord my connecton speed increases conciderably.It seems to pick up AC noice from the converter.
PS I have the driver disk somewhere I will look for it.
