I took a look and found what you described after unscrewing the plate under the keyboard. It looked like a circular disc, half covered by the Intel Mobile Module board. It seemed like the right place for a battery, and I could even read "1220" and "Pan..." etched into the half I could see, but it seemed to be held in place with a metal clasp. I tried to remove it with a grounded pair of tweezers but it wouldn't budge. I stopped tugging when I saw that the clasp might twist off. The system seemed fine after I put everything back together.

Anybody know if this was the CMOS battery, and if so, why I couldn't just move it out?
